How Airbnb and Vrbo sync
Each platform gives you a private iCal link for your listing's calendar, and each can import a link from another site. Syncing both ways takes two connections: Vrbo's link added to Airbnb, and Airbnb's link added to Vrbo.
The platforms check each other's link on a schedule, not the moment something changes. That gap is the main limit of iCal sync, and it is covered at the end of this guide.
- Do this on a computer if you can. Both platforms' help pages describe the desktop steps first.
- Open the same property on both platforms before you start.
- Treat the links like passwords: anyone with one can see your booked dates.
Step 1: Copy your Vrbo calendar link
In the Vrbo Owner Dashboard, open the property you want to sync.
- 1
Open the calendar settings
Select Calendar, then go to the Availability tab in Settings.
- 2
Export the calendar
Under Calendar sync, select Connect calendars, then Export calendar.
- 3
Copy the link
Leave Include tentative bookings off, then select Copy URL.
Vrbo says tentative bookings should only be included when exporting to a private calendar, not to another booking site.

Step 2: Add the Vrbo link to Airbnb
In Airbnb, open the calendar for the same listing.
- 1
Open calendar connections
Click Calendar, select the listing, click Availability, then under Connect calendars click Connect to another website.
- 2
Paste the Vrbo link
Paste the Vrbo link into the calendar address field. Airbnb says the link must end in .ics.
- 3
Name it and add it
Name the calendar, for example Vrbo, then click Add calendar.
Airbnb updates imported calendars about every 3 hours. You can click Refresh Calendar to check sooner, but Airbnb limits how often it can request updates.
Step 3: Copy your Airbnb calendar link
The Airbnb calendar link is on the same screen.
- 1
Open calendar connections
In the listing's calendar, click Availability, then under Connect calendars click Connect to another website.
- 2
Copy the Airbnb calendar link
Copy the Airbnb calendar link shown there. It ends in .ics.
Step 4: Add the Airbnb link to Vrbo
Back in the Vrbo Owner Dashboard, open the same property.
- 1
Open imported calendars
Select Calendar, then the Availability tab in Settings. Under Calendar sync, select Connect calendars, then Manage imported calendars.
- 2
Paste the Airbnb link
Select Import a calendar and paste the Airbnb link into Calendar URL. If a link starts with webcal, change it to https.
- 3
Name it and import it
Select Next, enter a name such as Airbnb, then select Import.
Vrbo says imported events can take up to 20 minutes to appear, and you can import up to five calendars per property. Import is not available if property management software manages your Vrbo listing.
Test the sync and know its limits
Block a night well in the future on one platform, wait for the other to refresh, and check the same night is blocked there. Then reopen it and check the change reaches the other side too.
iCal sync is not instant. Between refreshes, nights booked on one platform can still look free on the other, so a last-minute double booking is possible. If that risk matters for your rental, a channel manager with direct connections updates faster.
- Booked nights sync. Airbnb says nights you block elsewhere may not, because preparation time and advance notice settings differ between sites.
- Do not import Vrbo's link back into Vrbo, or Airbnb's into Airbnb. Vrbo warns this can cause payment issues.
- If you remove a connection, delete it on the platform that imported it.
Show guests one calendar
Syncing keeps Airbnb and Vrbo blocked for each other. It does not give guests a calendar to check on your website or a link you can send. SingleCal does that job: add the same two links and it shows one calendar of free and booked nights, which you can embed or share.
You do not need SingleCal to sync Airbnb and Vrbo. It sits alongside the sync and does not change either platform's calendar.
