What an iCal link is
An iCal link is a private web address for your listing's calendar. Other calendars can read it on a schedule to see which dates are booked or blocked. It shares dates, not your prices, rules or messages.
Each listing has its own link, so if you have two rentals on Airbnb, you will copy two different Airbnb links.
- Copy the calendar export link, not the public listing page address.
- Airbnb's help says calendar links should end in .ics.
- Treat the link like a password: anyone who has it can see your booked dates.
Airbnb
Airbnb's help describes these steps on a computer, so use a desktop browser if you cannot find the option in the app.
- 1
Open the listing calendar
In Airbnb hosting, select Calendar and choose the listing you want the link for.
- 2
Open calendar connections
Select Availability, then under Connect calendars choose Connect to another website.
- 3
Copy the Airbnb calendar link
Copy the Airbnb calendar link shown there. It ends in .ics.
Airbnb updates calendars it imports about every 3 hours. When another service reads your Airbnb link, how often it checks is up to that service.
Want guests to see your availability in one place? SingleCal combines your Airbnb, Vrbo and Booking.com calendars, free for one rental.
Vrbo
You can export a Vrbo calendar from the Owner Dashboard on a computer or from the Vrbo Owner app. If you manage several properties, open the right listing first.
- 1
Open the calendar settings
Choose Calendar, then open the Availability tab in Settings. In the app, tap Calendar, then the settings icon, then Availability.
- 2
Open Calendar sync
Under Calendar sync, select Connect calendars, then Export calendar.
- 3
Copy the link
Select Copy URL (Copy link in the app).
Vrbo offers an option to include tentative bookings, which appear as blocked dates. Vrbo advises using it only for a private calendar, not for importing into another booking site.
Booking.com
Booking.com keeps calendar sync in the extranet, the site you use to manage your property. Menu labels vary between property types and extranet versions, so use the wording on your screen as the final guide.
Not every property can use calendar sync. Booking.com's help explains which properties qualify; for example, properties connected through a channel manager usually manage availability there instead. If you do not see Sync calendars, check Booking.com's help for your property type.
- 1
Open your calendar
Sign in to the extranet and open Rates & Availability, then the calendar for the room or property.
- 2
Open Sync calendars
Find the Sync calendars option for that calendar.
- 3
Export and copy the link
Choose Export calendar and copy the link. Booking.com may let you choose whether to include only bookings or also the dates you have closed.
Booking.com says synced calendars do not update in real time, so allow time for changes to appear in both directions.
Turn the links into one calendar for guests
Once you have your links, you can paste them into SingleCal to show guests one calendar of your free and booked nights, on your website or as a link you share. SingleCal stores the links encrypted and never shows them to guests.
- 1
Add the links
In SingleCal, open Connected calendars and add each link for the rental.
- 2
Choose where guests book
Add your Airbnb, Vrbo or Booking.com listing as the booking link.
- 3
Share or embed
Share the calendar page, or copy the embed code into your website.
If the link does not work
Most problems come from copying the wrong address or the wrong listing.
- You copied the listing page address instead of the calendar export link. Go back to the calendar settings and copy the export.
- The link belongs to a different listing. Check you opened the right calendar before copying.
- Booking.com does not show Sync calendars. Your property may not qualify, or may be connected to a channel manager.
- Dates look out of date. Calendar links are read on a schedule, not instantly, so recent bookings can take a while to appear.
- You think someone else has your link. Contact the platform's support and ask how to reset it.
